Thelma Davis Calhoun original W/C
Original watercolor by popular Carson City artist Thelma Davis Calhoun (1913-1998)
Calhoun and her husband James arrived in Virginia City in 1944. Later moving to
Carson. This building is the Miner's Union in Gold Hill. It appears as it did in photos
shortly before being demolished sometime in the 1940s.
The visible area is about 17 by 13 inches, and still housed in it's original frame,
typically made by James with his initials on the back. This is a fine example of her
interest in and talent for drawing buildings. She wrote a book on the subject.
