Biography from AV Fine Arts

Morten Solberg paints in oil, acrylic, and watercolor.  His techniques range from photo-realism to total abstraction, with the combination of both being his most popular style.  His paintings have appeared on the covers of numerous magazines, and he has been featured in American Artist, Wildlife Art News, Art West, Watercolor, Sports Afield, Sporting Classic, Southwest Art, and Orange County Illustrated.  American Artist magazine editors chose him as their Artist of the Year in 1986.  His accomplishments have earned him listings in Who's Who in American Art and Who's Who in the West.

American Indian history and culture hold a special allure -- perhaps because there are American Indians and Norwegian whalers among his great grandparents.  Wildlife, romantic women with parasols, flowers, fisherman, cowboys, and American Indians have provided him with endless colors and shapes with which to design.

His work has taken top awards in many exhibitions, including the Society of Animal Artists, the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and the National Academy of Design.

In 1993, he was elected to U.S. Art Magazine "Artist Hall of Fame." In 2001, he was named "Master Artist" by Wildlife Art Magazine.  His work has been published as limited edition prints since 1977.

To date there are over 95 prints available.  His work is represented in many collections including the Smithsonian Institution, National Gallery of Art, The Dunnegan Museum of Art, American Artist Magazine, National Academy of Design, The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum of Art, Wildlife Art News Magazine and many private and public collections.
